WHY I VOTE

WHY I VOTE

In the weeks before the 2020 election, I built an interactive public art installation modeled after a voting booth that was placed on display across three locations in New York City. I wanted to capture the collective sense of fear and anxiety so many Americans felt in that moment, so I asked dozens of people on the street to write down and submit their answer to a simple question: Why do you vote? Those who participated also sat for short interviews, which were used as part of an accompanying short film that was shot and edited by Daniel Anturri, and directed by me. The project also included a series of portraits featuring the participants.
